Shingo Takagi Wants to Team with Natsupoi Again to Face Chihiro Hashimoto

By: Noah Leatherland

After claiming victory alongside his wife, Natsupoi, at STARDOM Crimson Nightmare, Shingo Takagi wants to team up again. In his sights is the Sendai Girls World Champion, Chihiro Hashimoto.

As reported by Tokyo Sports , in Takagi’s post-match comments, he shared his desires to take on more stars from the joshi world alongside his wife, naming one in particular:

Looking at women’s pro wrestlers all over the world, there’s one person I want to face… A few years ago, there was a post on social media asking, ‘Name three pro wrestlers you think are amazing.’ I listed Tomohiro Ishii and Will Ospreay—people I’ve wrestled against—and Chihiro Hashimoto, even though I’ve never actually faced her. she’s the strongest woman in the sport. If I’m going to do a mixed-gender match again, I want to face the woman I consider the strongest.

Takagi also brought up the time he trained with Hashimoto for a video on his YouTube channel:

During sparring, I thought she wasn’t going all out—maybe she was being careful. Even a fool like me could tell. When I got into the powerbomb position, she should have been able to lift me, but she pretended like she couldn’t—it kind of hurt my pride a little. ‘Hashimoto, what the hell!’ … I want her to make me feel like she’s an opponent I can’t beat unless I go all out. There’s a possibility I might open that kind of dangerous door. It all depends on Hashimoto, doesn’t it?

Natsupoi also spoke on the prospect of facing Hashimoto with her husband, liking the idea:

If it happens, it would be the best absolute. One of the matches that served as a turning point for me was my singles match against Hashimoto. I was really inspired by her determination to win … Chihiro Hashimoto is a monster. Since we’re at it, if her partner were also someone like a monster, I think it would make me even more fired up.

Hashimoto has taken note of the challenge, responding on social media, seemingly up for the challenge:

Good morning!

When I woke up, I found myself in the crosshairs. I’m going back to sleep, so I’ll pray that my prince comes to me.

Since no one’s coming to pick me up, I guess I’ll get up soon.

Who’s my prince charming?!?!
Someone stronger and bigger than me!!

Hashimoto is no stranger to facing NJPW talent, having squared off against Konosuke Takeshita at Yuki Ueno’s 10th anniversary event in DDT in September.

At present, a match has yet to be booked. But, with everyone involved wanting it, and with only so much time left on the Bye Poi Road, it would not be shocking to see the match made soon.
