A Block will include the reigning IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, El Desperado and Mistico. This will be their first time competing in the round robin tournament as a duo. Desperado has previously won the tournament, teaming with Yoshinobu Kanemaru back in 2021. For Mistico, this will be his first time entering the competition.
Kazuma Sumi will represent DDT in the tournament. Aside from crossover events, this will be his full fledged return to NJPW rings since appearing at Destruction in 2023. Sumi will team with the man that beat him for the DDT Universal Title, Ryusuke Taguchi. This will be Taguchi’s ninth consecutive entry into the NJPW Super Jr. Tag League.
Master Wato forms a new team for this year’s tournament. This time, he will be tagging with KUUKAI. KUUKAI made his NJPW debut in last year’s edition of the Super Jr. Tag League, teaming with El Desperado. He was last seen in NJPW at New Year Dash, and has been primarily competing in Osaka Pro since then.
KUSHIDA enters the tournament by teaming with an AEW inclusion, Nick Wayne. Having won many fans over in his past couple Best of the Super Juniors tournament, this will be Wayne’s first time competing in the tag team tournament.
Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X are entering their third tag league as a duo. The pair held the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Titles earlier this year, and are sure to be looking for a road path back to those belts.
Rounding out A Block, DOUKI teams with Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Both are past winners of the tournament, Kanemaru in 2021 with Desperado, and DOUKI winning last year’s tournament with SHO. DOUKI and Kanemaru also competed as a pair in the 2022 edition of the tournament, finishing in the middle of the pack.

B Block sees the reigning IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion YOH teaming with an outsider in the form of Hyo. The Dragongate star was last seen in NJPW earlier this year in the Best of the Super Juniors, where he finished on 6 points. Hyo currently holds one third of Dragongate’s trios titles, the Open the Triangle Gate Championships. As well as holding gold, YOH is also a three-time winner of the Super Jr. Tag League.
CMLL star Titan returns to NJPW for his fourth tag league. He teams with his Unbound Co. stablemate, Daiki Nagai. This will be Nagai’s second time competing. He and Clark Connors went winless in last year’s tournament. Nagai also failed to pick up points in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors. He is surely motivated to improve his record with Titan by his side.
Winners of the 2024 edition, Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita, the Ichiban Sweet Boys, are also in B Block. The TMDK duo have held the junior tag belts twice this year. Coming off singles losses at King of Pro Wrestling, joining forces could propel them back to champion status.
Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young are set to represent United Empire in this year’s tournament. Akira won the tournament back in 2023 alongside TJP as part of Catch 22. For Young, this will be his second time in the field, having picked up 4 points with Templario last year.
AEW will be represented in B Block by The Swirl, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. The pair are two thirds of the ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions, holding those titles with Jay Lethal. This will be both men’s debut in the NJPW Super Jr. Tag League. This will also be Johnson’s first time in NJPW altogether.
B Block is rounded out by House of Torture’s SHO and Dick Togo. SHO is a three-time winner of the tournament with previous partners. This will be Togo’s fourth time in the competition, having teamed with SHO back in 2022, where they finished joint bottom.
NJPW Super Jr. Tag League kicks off on October 24th in the Kumagaya Citizen Gymnasium. The series will culminate at Power Struggle on November 3rd.
