Suwama Hints on Teaming With Go Shiozaki in the Upcoming AJPW Real World Tag League

By: Lewis Carlan

Back on Aug. 29th, Go Shiozaki faced Suwama at All Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Nettou Summer Action Wars 2026 in front of over 3,000 fans inside the EBARA WAVE Arena Ota. This was the first time in over 11 years that Shiozaki and Suwama went one on one inside the squared circle. It was their seventh singles match and on this occasion, Shiozaki was victorious after disposing of Suwama in a little over fourteen minutes.

Now, it appears Suwama would like to possibly step into the ring with Shiozaki once again only not as opponents but as tag team partners. After losing to Shiozaki, Suwama was stated in saying, “the two of us will do something interesting.”

The AJPW Real World Tag League is scheduled to begin on Nov. 15th and Suwama has indicated that he would be open to entering the tournament with Shiozaki as his partner.

As per Tokyo Sports, Suwama was speaking with reporters at the Aug. 15th Evolution event and discussed him and Shiozaki potentially forming a tag team and entering the AJPW Real World Tag League:

From Suwama:

“To prove your worth, you really need results. We’ve both been in the business for over 20 years, so there are certain things we can see. The young wrestlers are getting more interesting, aren’t they? Yuma Anzai, Yuma Aoyagi, Ren Ayabe… though Shotaro  Ashino is a different story. But seriously, the younger generation is really coming into their own. Wouldn’t it be fun if we jumped into that mix?”

Suwama finished up talking to reporters by saying that if Shiozaki thinks its a good idea then they should team up. He suggested they ask Shiozaki his thoughts on it.

From Suwama:

“Well, that’s just me talking to myself. If Shiozaki says it’s a good idea, it’d be interesting, and we should do it. Ask Shiozaki about it.”

Given their history, if Suwama and Shiozaki team up and enter the AJPW Real World Tag League in November, it would create a tremendous amount of buzz. Despite their age, a Suwama/Shiozaki tandem could pose a serious threat to the current AJPW World Tag Team Champions Jun & Rei Saito.
