Having claimed the KO-D Openweight Championship at DDT Wrestle Peter Pan, MAO already made his firsts defence against an opportunistic Sanshiro Takagi. Now, his second challenger has emerged in the form of the youngster Daichi Satoh.
At the end of DDT’s latest Fighting Beer Garden show in Shinjuku FACE, MAO emerged as the winner of a wild Enter Sandman match. As he relished in his alcohol soaked victory, MAO was confronted by Satoh. Having lost the KO-D Six Man Tag Team Titles with paleyouth, Satoh is looking to bounce back in a big way. MAO happily accepted the challenge, with the match now set for August 30th in Korakuen Hall.
Speaking backstage at Shinjuku FACE, Satoh shared his determination to win:
My last summer vacation, creating the best memories—that means winning the Openweight belt. I want to give it my all when I take on MAO. I’m going to win and become the youngest Openweight champion.
In his own comments, MAO expressed his excitement for the title match:
Just when I was drinking more beer than anyone else and acting like a bit of an idiot, the ultimate challenger turned up: Daichi Satoh. I’m delighted to be the champion right now, just as Daichi is at the peak of his form. Let’s do it whilst he’s still in high school—an Openweight bout.
