The New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 36 continued on July 26th at the EBARA WAVE ARENA in Ota with an announced crowd of 1,580 fans on hand for the event. Bouts from the B block were front and center during this night of G1 Climax 36 tournament action.
The main event featured the current IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion and AEW star Gabe Kidd facing Zack Sabre Jr. This was a crucial bout for Sabre Jr. as he has struggled since his opening night victory over Shota Umino. Sabre Jr. has lost two bouts in a row and was looking to get back on the winning side of things but unfortunately he ran into a roadblock named Gabe Kidd.
It took over twenty five minutes but Kidd emerged victorious following a Leg Trap Piledriver and handed Sabre Jr. his third straight defeat in the tournament.
The win raised Kidd’s point total to eight as, in contrast to Sabre Jr., he has won three tournament bouts in a row after losing his first bout of the G1 Climax 36. Kidd is now tied with Drilla Moloney and HENARE as the leaders in the B Block of the tournament.
Drilla Moloney won his bout, which was the co-featured match, when he defeated Callum Newman in a tough encounter. Moloney used his patented Drilla Killa finisher to put Newman away at the 14:12 mark of the match. The win shot Moloney to the top of the B Block where he, HENARE and Kidd are now tied for first place.
HENARE was actually the first competitor to reach eight points in the B Block as he defeated Ren Narita earlier in the night with a HENARE Bomb in under eleven minutes.
