New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s DOMINION 6.14 in OSAKA-JO HALL is set to take place this weekend on June 14th, with six championship matches scheduled for the event. In one of those featured bouts, the current IWGP Tag Team Champions Knockout Brothers defend the titles against former champions HENARE and Great-O-Khan.
The United Empire duo won the opportunity to challenge Yuto-Ice and OSKAR for the titles back on April 20th, after defeating Bishamon at NJPW Road To Wrestling Dontaku. If the Knockout Brothers retain their championships in Osaka, they will reach seven successful title defenses, putting them three away from the record of ten held by Karl Anderson and Giant Bernard.
During a recent interview with NJPW, the man at the forefront of the Pro-wrestling High movement, Yuto-Ice, was asked if he cares about breaking records and declared he only cares about the tough battles that come along with holding the championships.
From Yuto-Ice:
“Nah. These belts are a ticket to us to get tough f***ers to fight us for money and that’s it as far as I’m concerned. But OSKAR, he’s into that stuff, being in the history books and s***. So keeping the titles keeps us both happy.”
Later in the interview, after discussing the similarities and differences between himself and HENARE, Ice, who has never been shy about opening up about his past in the streets, stated that pro-wrestling saved him from going farther down that path. He also said that he looks at a match against HENARE as a way to repay any bad karma from his past.
From Yuto-Ice:
“Pro-wrestling saved me from that kind of street thug life you know. That’s kind of a mission I have now, it’s something I owe to the world. Like, I’m repaying the universe. Like, to get a little spiritual, when I got hurt in my first match, a lot of people said it was karma. Because of the s*** I did before wrestling. That’s what made me really feel having a match with HENARE would be repaying my debts.”
Ice wrapped things up saying he believes at DOMINION he and HENARE will create a one-of-a-kind chemical reaction and then sent a message to the new viewers who will be watching the show on TV Asahi terrestrial TV in Japan.
From Yuto-Ice:
“Me and HENARE will create a chemical reaction of a pro-wrestling high and his Mana that only we can make. I want people to get hooked on that chemistry and I want them to want more. And if we’re on that TV broadcast, that’s a lot of people watching for the first time. To them- don’t think, just feel. Let’s get high! Big up!”
DOMINION 6.14 in OSAKA-JO HALL will air live on NJPW World streaming service on June 14th.
