The unfortunate luck has been continuing for Marigold as they have been plagued with numerous injuries to it’s top stars. Mayu Iwatani, Victoria Yuzuki, Erina Yamanaka and now Seri Yamaoka are all out indefinitely due to various injuries suffered by all.
In addition, on May 23rd Utami Hayashishita left Marigold after spending two years with Rossy Ogawa’s promotion and quickly returned to rival STARDOM.
With the injuries and departures, Marigold has seen a decline in fan attendance at events.
Former Marigold and current Michinoku Pro Wrestling star MIRAI was interviewed recently in a new report from Tokyo Sports and she shared her feelings about the current struggles Marigold is experiencing.
From MIRAI:
“I hear various things. There are a lot of injured wrestlers, and I don’t think you can deny that they’re still in a difficult situation. Even at this Ota Ward show, I never thought I’d be able to say ‘I’m back’ again so soon. After leaving the side of (Rossy) Ogawa-san, who took great care of me, I want to bring back a lot of results and say ‘This is what I’ve accomplished’ when we meet again. In terms of my own feelings, there is a part of me that thinks it should be after I have grown a bit more, but if I’m ever called upon as a hero…” (English translation courtesy of meraWRESTLING)
MIRAI had returned to Marigold on May 23rd to help fill the void left by all the injured competitors.
MIRAI stated in the past that she would be willing to make appearances for Marigold to assist during this difficult time for the promotion.
