Junya Matsunaga & Katsuhiko Nakajima Victorious at ZERO1 Urayasu Event, Blocks Announced For Fire Festival 2026

By: Ian McCord

On May 2nd, Pro Wrestling ZERO1 returned to Urayasu for an event headlined by Junya Matsunaga and Katsuhiko Nakajima joining forces to take on Hayabusa and Masato Tanaka.

Back on April 3rd, Junya Matsunaga requested that he and Nakajima team up after winning the ZERO1 World Heavyweight Championship from Masato Tanaka at ZERO1’s 25th Anniversary event. Nakajima would accept Matsunaga’s invitation, and a match against Hayabusa and Tanaka was made official for ZERO1’s Urayasu event.

With Matsunaga, Nakajima, Hayabusa and Tanaka all competing in ZERO1’s Fire Festival this year, the main event in Urayasu on May 2nd serves as a sort of preview tag match for the yearly round robin tournament.

Matsunaga and Nakajima would battle with Hayabusa and Tanaka for almost 23 minutes, with Nakajima picking up the win for his team after hitting his Northern Lights Bomb finisher on Tanaka.

After the match, Nakajima would extend an olive branch to Hayabusa, requesting that the two team up at Nakajima’s IT’S SHOWTIME independent event on May 31st, with Hayabusa accepting.

Katsuhiko Nakajima via X:

“Hayabusa. I’m grateful that he readily agreed when I asked him to team up with me for our independent event on May 31. Honestly, I have no idea what kind of tag team we’ll be, and that’s thrilling. The fun is just beginning.”

Fire Festival 2025 winner Hayabusa took to social media following the event in Urayasu, thanking the fans for attending and mentioning that he accepted Nakajima’s invitation to team up on May 31st. Hayabusa, who lost to Nakajima back in March, also noted that the two will be participating in the same block in this year’s Fire Festival, with Hayabusa looking to avenge the loss he suffered back in Shin-Kiba.

“Thank you for coming to the Urayasu event. I knew Katsuhiko Nakajima was strong, but this really drove that point home. After the match, Katsuhiko Nakajima himself asked me to team up with him for his independent event on May 31. I have no reason to refuse. At the Fire Festival, Katsuhiko Nakajima and I are in the same block. To repay the debt from March, I’ll stand right beside him and experience his strength firsthand. The fun is just beginning.”
