New Japan Pro Wrestling made their way to Osaka on March 13th for another night of New Japan Cup action. 2 spots in the quarter finals were up for grabs as Callum Newman picked up the win over Hartley Jackson and Hirooki Goto defeated Jake Lee to advance to the next round.
The semi-main event saw Hartley Jackson use his strength to toss Callum Newman all around the Osaka Kanaoka Park Gymnasium. Jackson ultimately fell victim to the Prince of Pace after Newman was able to hit Excalibur on Big Jag after a distraction from Zayne Jay at around the 14:40 mark.
Hirooki Goto and Jake Lee battled in the main event to see who would advance to the quarter finals to face Callum Newman. Goto ultimately walked out the victor after hitting the GTR on Lee in just over 15 minutes.
Backstage during his post-match interview, Goto comments on facing Newman in the next round and also shares his thoughts on Jake Lee:
“Next up is Callum Newman, huh. OK, sounds good. This veteran will lend you his chest one more time. Jake Lee, I think I get the meaning of your ‘zanmai’ a bit now. That was respect towards me, wasn’t it? Hell, you could even join the Goto Revolutionary Army if you want?”
