Shinjuku FACE Manager Hopes to Open New Venue Following Closure of Current Location

By Noah Leatherland

Members of the Japanese pro wrestling community have been mourning the loss of Shinjuku FACE as news of its impending closure hit the headlines. However, the venue’s manager hopes that it won’t be long before a new location opens to fill the void.

Yuka Ogawa spoke to Tokyo Sports on the topic. Ogawa works for Humax Entertainment, the company that runs Shinjuku FACE. Ogawa shared that Shinjuku FACE’s closure is due to the building’s age, adding ‘we would have continued if we could’.

While Shinjuku FACE’s closure creates a gap in the Tokyo wrestling scene, Ogawa hopes to fill it in by opening a new venue:

I’m strongly advocating for this within the company, and I believe they understand. I want to create something like FACE again.

Although nothing is confirmed, Ogawa is hopeful for the future:

After we close in September, we want to reopen as soon as possible… Considering access, hub stations like Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, or Shibuya would be excellent… If it’s in Shinjuku, the name Shinjuku FACE would be ideal.
