Exclusive: Monthly Puroresu Speaks With BJW World Strong Heavyweight Champion Daimonji So Following His V4 Over Ryuji Ito

By: Lewis Carlan

On Feb. 22, Big Japan Pro-Wrestling made its return to Korakuen Hall for another big event.

One of the featured bouts saw BJW World Strong Heavyweight Champion Daimonji So make the fourth defense of his title against death match star Ryuji Ito.

The match, which was fought under Strong division rules, turned out to be a very tough one for Daimonji So.

Ito pulled out all the stops in an effort to win the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career which included bodyslamming Daimonji onto an open chair in an attempt to render him helpless.

At one point during the match, Daimonji accidentally speared the referee. With the referee down, Daimonji attempted to bring a Singapore Cane in the battle to use against Ito. Ito was able to avoid the cane and actually used it on Daimonji after he took possession of it.

In the end, it was Daimonji So hitting his second Black Rain finisher on Ito to end the match at the 18:28 mark and retain his title.

After his victory, Daimonji So addressed the crowd and then was confronted by Kankuro Hoshino who challenged Daimonji for the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship.

In a Monthly Puroresu exclusive, the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Champion Daimonji So spoke with us to discuss his victory, new challenger and the departure of Jacob Crane:

Monthly Puroresu:

Congratulations on winning your fourth consecutive BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship defense. Did you expect such a tough battle from Ryuji Ito as he is primarily a death match wrestler?

Daimonji So:

I’ve been wrestling in BJW for four years, and this was probably only my second matchup with Ryuji Ito. It was a Ryuji Ito I didn’t know, and it wasn’t a deathmatch, but that’s what I wanted. Being the champion meant that the BJW guys would desperately try to take the belt from me, and that’s what I wanted.

Monthly Puroresu:

How are you feeling after being bodyslammed on the open chair by Ito?

Daimonji So:

This is the worst, I’ve had enough.

Monthly Puroresu:

Why did you feel the need to use the Singapore cane on Ito and did you regret it when he was able to use it on you instead?

Daimonji So:

I wanted to humiliate him by beating him up with his signature weapon. This is just as bad as answer number 2, which was wrong.

Monthly Puroresu:

Do you believe you have become a dominant champion as you are on a terrific run with the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Title?

Daimonji So:

I’m currently eliminating the BJW guys one by one. I intend to continue this cycle and become the greatest champion in history. I’ll be the 24th champion forever; there will never be a 25th champion. Once I’ve defeated everyone, I’ll consider defending the title in another organization.

Monthly Puroresu:

You were challenged by Kankuro Hoshino after your victory. Your thoughts on his challenge

Daimonji So:

This is unexpected, but it’s right that he wants to take the BJW belt back to BJW, and he’s taking action. However, Hoshino will have to go through hell. He’ll have to bow down to my overwhelming power.

Monthly Puroresu:

I’d like to ask your feelings on Jacob Crane departing Yosomono and leaving BJW. Will you look to replace him in the unit?

Daimonji So:

He hasn’t left Outsiders, he’s returning to Poland due to his schedule, and he’ll continue to promote Outsiders in Poland, Europe, and the world until he comes to Japan again, but now that we’ve lost one, we’d like to find a cruiserweight fighter.

Monthly Puroresu:

Congratulations again on your victory.

Daimonji So:

Thank you.

Monthly Puroresu would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Daimonji So for facilitating this interview.
