STARDOM has announced that their world champion, Saya Kamitani, is out of action due to an injury sustained at Supreme Fight. Part way through her title defence against Starlight Kid, Kamitani dislocated her finger and received treatment from the ringside doctor.
Per STARDOM’s statement on Kamitani’s absence, she will go under the knife in a bid to minimize the risk of re-injuring her finger and protect her long-term health. STARDOM also detailed that Kamitani will be out of action for a month. This means that Kamitani will miss most, if not all, of the Cinderella Tournament events. Thanks to the relatively quick turnaround, Kamitani will not need to relinquish the World of Stardom title.
Kamitani recently took a recovery-related hiatus following her appearance at the Tokyo Dome for Wrestle Kingdom back in January, returning to STARDOM in the lead up to her title match with Starlight Kid.
Everyone at Monthly Puroresu wishes Saya Kamitani a speedy recovery.
