Kento Miyahara Reigns Supreme At AJPW NEW YEAR WARS 2026 in Chiba

By: Lewis Carlan

On Jan. 25th, All Japan Pro-Wrestling held the final event of its NEW YEAR WARS 2026 tour at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall #4 in Chiba. AJPW drew a crowd of 1,057 to the venue for the final show of the tour.

The main event was a huge AJPW Triple Crown Title bout as the current champion Kento Miyahara put his belt on the line against the seven foot tall monster Talos.

As expected, Miyahara had his hands full with his much larger and stronger opponent as Talos used his size advantage to make things difficult for the champion.

It appeared Miyahara spent a good portion of the bout trying to figure out Talos and once he did he put it into overdrive, landing some big offensive moves against the giant.

Prior to the title defense, Miyahara promised to win the match with his patented Shutdown Suplex finisher despite Talos’ claim that there was no way Miyahara could perform that move on him.

After a few failed attempts during the course of the match, Miyahara kept his promise by hitting Talos with the Shutdown Suplex and pinned his big shoulders to the mat for a three count.

After successfully defending his title for the fourth time while in his seventh reign as Triple Crown Champion, Miyahara was confronted by Jun Saito. Miyahara defeated Saito back in Sept. 2025 to enter his seventh reign as the top titleholder in AJPW.

Saito, who defeated Cyrus earlier on the event, challenged Miyahara for the opportunity to regain the Triple Crown Title. During his backstage interview, Saito suggested they do it on Feb. 23rd at Ota Ward Gymnasium.

In the co-featured bout, Seigo Tachibana dethroned the AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Atsuki Aoyagi to become the new titleholder. Tachibana hit his Yankee Hammer to end the match at the 27:10 mark to win the title for the first time in his career.
