Back on Jan. 4th, New Japan Pro-Wrestling legend Hiroshi Tanahashi competed in his final match at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in front of over 49,000 fans at a sold out Tokyo Dome. Tanahashi was defeated in his final match by his greatest rival Kazuchika Okada as he said good-bye to in-ring competition.
Since his debut back in 1999, one thing has been synonymous with Hiroshi Tanahashi and that has been his iconic and, quite frankly, gorgeous long hair. The long hair gave Tanahashi the image of a rock star and helped set him apart for all the other competitors.
On Jan. 17th, an end of a gorgeous era occurred as Tanahashi visited a barber and cut off his long, magnificent, radiant hair and appeared to have dyed it black.
Tanahashi proudly posted his new fresh hairstyle on X next to his equally proud hair stylist.
While his in-ring career is officially over, Tanahashi remains the President of New Japan Pro-Wrestling and he can now head to the office sporting his new executive hair style that most people will probably just have to get used to.
A number of fans expressed their sadness when the news of Tanahashi’s haircut came out. All that can be said to that is, Tanahashi now has short hair and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
It’s truly a new dawn in the life of Hiroshi Tanahashi and all of his fans.
