NJPW made their last stop before WRESTLE KINGDOM 20 in Korakuen Hall, with some big news coming from the event. The United Empire revealed one of their mystery teammates for the Tokyo Dome, Andrade El Idolo.
Andrade El Idolo last appeared in NJPW back in 2015, competing at that year’s FantasticaMania event under his masked persona, La Sombra. As La Sombra, he also held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura for the white belt.
Andrade El Idolo’s appearance comes amongst a myriad of reports of his contract status. El Idolo made his return to NJPW’s partner All Elite Wrestling in October, making a single appearance attacking Kenny Omega before disappearing again. Reports suggested that his return clashed with clauses in his contract with the WWE. Since then, El Idolo has appeared in Mexico and Puerto Rico, as well as New York-based independent promotion House of Glory.
Andrade El Idolo will team with one other mystery partner, along with Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan and Henare. They will take on the team of David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, Drilla Maloney, Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi in a 10-man tag.
