MIRAI Explains Why She Decided To Join Michinoku Pro Wrestling

By: Lewis Carlan

Back on Sept. 20th, MIRAI surprised the pro-wrestling world when she announced that she had decided to depart Marigold. She had been with the promotion since its inception back on May 20th 2024. She was part of a mass exodus of talent from STARDOM that left to join Rossy Ogawa’s then new promotion, Marigold. MIRAI had her final match for Marigold on October 13th.

Fans were wondering what the next move for MIRAI would be and they didn’t have to wait long to find out. At the Michinoku Pro Grande Uno 2025 event on Nov. 2, Mayu Iwatani was scheduled to face a mystery opponent that turned out to be MIRAI.

Following the match, which was won by Iwatani, MIRAI was joined in the ring by Michinoku Pro Wrestling President Jinsei Shinzaki as well as Rossy Ogawa. It was revealed that MIRAI had officially joined the Michinoku Pro Wrestling roster and was given a track suit to signify she had joined the promotion.

MIRAI spoke with Tokyo Sports and explained why she decided to join Michinoku Pro Wrestling. She stated by joining Michinoku Pro she will be able to spread pro wrestling more in Iwate, which is her hometown. MIRAI wants to to be the bridge between her hometown and pro-wrestling. She revealed that as a member of Michinoku Pro, she can still compete in other promotions.

From MIRAI:

“Ever since Jinsei Shinzaki became president, I had always known in the back of my mind that Michi Pro was recruiting female wrestlers. I was thinking about going freelance when I received the offer to join X. I had a lot of thoughts going through my head, if I joined Michi Pro, I’d be able to promote Iwate even more than before, and I could also compete in other promotions as a member of Michi Pro. I was happy with the reaction of the audience when I actually competed, and Mayu also gave me a push on the microphone, so I decided to join in the ring. ”

“I want to spread professional wrestling more in Iwate, and I want to be a bridge between my hometown and professional wrestling, spreading the appeal of Iwate through professional wrestling. And, this is something I’ve said for a long time, but if I’m going to do it, I’m going to aim high. That’s why I’m aiming for belts from all the organizations.”
