NEVER Openweight Six Man Title Bout Headlines Latest NJPW Road To DESTRUCTION Event

The latest New Japan Pro-Wrestling Road To DESTRUCTION event occurred on Sept. 13 as 1,492 fans filled Korakuen Hall to give the promotion another sell out at the famed arena.

The main event featured a NEVER Openweight Six Man Championship match as the champions Toru Yano, Master Wato and YOH made their first defense against Hiroshi Tanahashi, El Desperado & Ryusuke Taguchi.

Tanahashi, who is on his retirement tour, was hoping to secure some gold before he steps away from in-ring action. Unfortunately, this would not be Tanahashi’s night as it took the champions just over 21 minutes to retain their titles.

In the co-featured match, Ren Narita, SANADA, Yujiro Takahashi, SHO & DOUKI defeated Zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa, Hartley Jackson, Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita in eight man tag team action. This was a preliminary bout for Sabre Jr. and Narita ad the two will meet on Sept. 28th at Destruction in Kobe with the Sabre Jr’s IWGP World Heavyweight Title on the line.

• Togi  Makabe, Tomoaki Honma & Tiger Mask defeated Shoma Kato, Katsuya Murashima & Masatora Yasuda (7:43) after a Lariat by Makabe against Yasuda.
• Shota Umino, Oleg Boltin & Yuya Uemura defeated “King of Darkness” EVIL, Don Fale & Dick Togo (7:14) after a cross arm breaker from Uemura against Togo.
• David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, Taiji Ishimori & Gedo defeated Shingo Takagi, Yota Tsuji, Hiromu Takahashi & Daiki Nagai (9:34) after a leg trap piledriver from Kidd against Nagai.
• Yuto-Ice, OSKAR & Clark Connors defeated Tomohiro Ishii, Taichi & & TAKA Michinoku(10:19) when Yuto TAKA pinned after the K.O.B.
