Takumi Iroha and Sareee discussed becoming a team, winning championships together & more goals

By: Pep S. Caro

Takumi Iroha and Sareee became a team in May and a month later are at the top of Japanese Pro Wrestling, being tag team Champions in Marvelous and singles Champions in Pro Wrestling NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling respectively. Very important achievements in their first month as tag team partners.

Sareee has been competing some times as a freelance in Marvelous. She has been a friend and rival of Iroha for many years. On the Marvelous show of May 5th, Iroha and Sareee became tag team partners. This mighty and dreamy alliance won the Marvelous 1 Day tournament and became the number #1 contenders for the All Asia Athlete Women’s (AAAW) Tag Team Championships of H2D (Sonoko Kato and Ryo Mizunami). Weeks later, on May 20th, Sareee and Iroha defeated H2D and won the prestigous Titles and, at the same time, achieved one of their goals together.

In a recent interview for Weekly Pro Wrestling, Sareee and Iroha commented on why they became a tag team:

Iroha: “Sareee and I have fought quite a few times since she returned to Japan. I’ve fought at Sareee-ISM as well, but I was always fighting against her, so I thought that if we teamed, we could show what our wrestling style would be like if we worked together, and I was correct.”
Sareee: “I can still go toe-to-toe with her and I still have the desire to have a singles match against her, which I’ve said I always wanted to do–but it’s all about timing; it was the right time for us to go beyond being singles competitors and to become a tag team.”
Iroha: “We won the AAAW Tag Team Championships, but I also won the GHC Women’s title and Sareee is preparing to challenge for the IWGP Women’s title. We may be teaming up now, but we’re both at different levels. I think teaming together is much more interesting right now than it would be if we had a singles match together.”

Later in that interview, they also commented on what they want to achieve together:

Sareee: “I’m so excited right now. There’s a lot of things that I couldn’t do on my own before. I’m glad Iroha gave me a chance. I’m still aiming for the IWGP Women’s Championship, but I think tag teams, which are unique to pro-wrestling, are also just as important and interesting, so I want to become the top champion in the tag team division as well. I want it all.”
Iroha: “That’s what I’m saying. Tag teams are unique to pro-wrestling, and it’s up to us to make the titles interesting while we have them. I want people to be greedy to fight for them, even if Sareee and I end up fighting.”

After doing this interview, both made history and won the top women’s championship of mainly men organizations: NJPW’s IWGP Women’s Championship and NOAH’s GHC Women’s Championship. First, Takumi Iroha defeated Kouki Amarei at NOAH MONDAY MAGIC to win the GHC belt and Sareee defeated Syuri at Stardom The Conversion 2025 to win the IWGP belt.

Yesterday, Sareee commented in an interview for NUMBER that everything is going according to their plan: “Everything’s going according to plan since I entered STARDOM. Even after winning the tag belts with Takumi Iroha, we’ve both produced results in singles matches too, so I hope people look forward to the GHC Women’s and IWGP Women’s titles as well.”

Sareee and Iroha made history as the first tag team to have simultaneously the championships of those promotions. Iroha is also the AAAW Single Champion of Marvelous and the RCW Women’s World Champion in Spain. They promised to make things more interesting in pro wrestling and have some titles matches announced:

1. AAAW Tag Team Championship defense vs Senka Akatsuki and Sora Ayame at Marvelous on June 27th.

2. GHC Women’s Championship (Iroha) vs Victoria Yuzuki at WRESTLE MAGIC 2025 on June 30th.

3. RCW Women’s World Championship (Iroha) vs Amale at RCW Summer Fever 2025 on July 5th.

They mentioned that they work well together but are still rivals so sportsmanship can help them reach new heights for them. As singles competitors, as a tag team, and for the whole pro wrestling scene in Japan. Iroha is taking over NOAH and Marigold while Sareee who already took over Marigold last year is now taking over Stardom. This is indeed a historic period for pro wrestling.
