On June 20th at the latest Sendai Girls Event, STARDOM star Aya Sakura defended her Sendai Girls Jr Heavyweight Championship against the challenge of YUNA.
YUNA’s last attempt at winning the Sendai Girls Jr title occurred back in Dec. 2024 but unfortunately she was defeated by then champion Chi Chi.
The fortunes of YUNA didn’t change on June 2oth as Sakura was able to retain her title following a combination of kicks which led to a pinfall victory.
This was Sakura’s first defense of the Sendai Girls Jr Title since winning it from Chi Chi back in March.
Despite her victory over YUNA, Sakura expressed her that she is frustrated with herself as she feels she hasn’t lived up to being the Sendai Girls Jr Heavyweight titleholder. Sakura told the fans that she will continue to show them new sights from her perspective as a STARDOM talent while holding the Sendai Jr Title.
From Aya Sakura:
“It’s been three months since I won this Sendai Girls Junior belt, and honestly, even when I look at myself, I haven’t been able to make the most of it at all. I think YUNA must’ve felt really frustrated losing the belt from her own promotion. But I’ve also felt really, really frustrated with my own lack of ability to live up to this title. Still, I want YUNA to come at me even harder with those feelings of frustration. And I’m going to keep showing you all new sights from the perspective of Aya Sakura of STARDOM, along with this Junior belt, so please continue to watch me! Thank you!”
Sakura will next be in action on June 21st at STARDOM THE CONVERSION 2025 as she teams with her Cosmic Angels unit members Yuna Mizumori & Sayaka Kurura) as they face Momo Kohgo, Kikyo Furusawa & Ema Maishima.
