A press conference was held yesterday by DDT Pro-Wrestling to announce that Kaisei Takechi has signed a contract with the promotion and has officially joined their active roster.
Takechi, who is a member of the J-Pop group The Rampage, has made special appearances in the past for DDT Pro that saw him compete in three matches. The Rampage is currently managed by LDH Japan Inc.
During the press conference, DDT Pro-Wrestling President Sanshiro Takagi explained the situation behind signing Takechi:
From Sanshiro Takagi:
“Takechi will join DDT Pro Wrestling. Last February he had amazing potential and will become a star. I hope he can make the industry more exciting. Thank you to EXILE Hiro, LDH and THE RAMPAGE. He will remain as part of LDH Japan. But for his wrestling career he will have full support from DDT as well as his training. We need a new star in this industry so we’ll make him a star worthy of the industry. I hope he can wrestle other guys from other promotions as well.”
An excited Takechi made numerous comments on becoming the newest member of the DDT Pro roster.
From Kaisei Takechi:
“Ever since I stood in the ring I thought I want to wrestle more. Its a different kind of feeling in the ring vs the stage. I hope to be in both the ring and the stage. I want to do better so I spoke with the company and this will be the way going forward. I’m sure fans are a little unsure but every challenge has a risk. And I’m the guy who will surely prove so.”
“My goal is to spread the joy of wrestling to more people. The more you see it the more enjoyable it is. I hope to show it to more people. And if I’m doing it, I want to be at the top.”
“We all have different dreams and they all praised me with how good I was. I spoke to all the members before making this decision. And they all wished their best for me.”
It was revealed during the press conference that Takechi’s first bout as an official member of DDT Pro will be a six man tag team match set for July 13. Takechi will team with Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata as they face Daisuke Sasaki, Hideki Okatani & MJ Paul.
Takechi offered these comments regarding the upcoming match:
“To team with the same two from my debut its very reliable. Okatani’s red hair was very memorable. It was a great match but he refused to shake my hand. Now we’re facing each other again. I’m very happy but whatever he does again me I’ll do my best to move forward.”
DDT Pro superstar Yuki Ueno weighed in as well during the press conference about the signing of Takechi.
“Ever since he debuted, the roster thought he’s one of us. And on top of that he is now officially a member. As a performer, and a human he’s a strong essence.”
“What will he show us? I’m excited. I hope to push him forward and face him one day. As a DDT member, he’ll face many guys. I’m looking forward to our title match. And match with Danshoku Dieno as well.”
“The first match is very important. And they’re the exact opposite of us. You’re strong and we’ll make sure you’ll show off an amazing match. We’ll show them how good Kaisei Takechi is.”
When asked who from DDT Pro he would like to face, Takechi answered Yuki Ueno.
Takechi’s first match as an official DDT Pro competitor will take place at the famed Korakuen Hall and will be available to view on Wrestle Universe in July 13th.
